Privacy Policy

What information the foundation collects, why it holds it, how long it keeps it, and the choices you have.

This policy explains what personal information SJCare Foundation collects, why it is collected, how it is stored and the choices open to you. It applies to this website and to requests made through it.

Information we collect

  • Information you send us through our forms: your name, email address, telephone number, location and the content of your message.
  • Information about a case, where you choose to give it, including details of an incident and any supporting document you upload.
  • Details of donations, including the amount, currency and reference, where processing requires it.
  • Basic technical information that a web server records, such as the pages requested. This is used to keep the site secure and working.

Why we hold it

We hold information in order to respond to your message, assess a request for assistance or a report of a concern, process voluntary registrations, issue a receipt for a donation, and meet legal and accounting obligations.

Sensitive information

Reports of abuse may contain sensitive detail. Access to case records is restricted to staff who need it. Where publication is appropriate, identifying details are removed unless the person expressly asks us to publish their account.

What we never do

We do not sell personal information. We do not pass it to a third party for marketing. We do not publish the identity of a person who has asked us to protect it.

Sharing

We share information only where it is necessary to act on your request, for example referring a case to a lawyer or an oversight body at your request, or to a payment provider to process a donation. Where the law compels disclosure, we will disclose only what is required and will tell you where we are permitted to.

Retention

Enquiry records are kept while a matter is active and for a period afterwards so that we can respond to follow-up questions. Financial records are kept in line with statutory requirements. You may ask us to delete a record that we are not required to keep.

Your choices

  • You may ask what information we hold about you.
  • You may ask us to correct information that is wrong.
  • You may ask us to delete information we are not required to keep.
  • You may ask not to be contacted again, and we will stop.
  • You may unsubscribe from our email list at any time using the link in every message.

Contact

Requests about your information should be made through our contact form, marked for the attention of the data protection contact.
